Product Description

Sun-Sheetal is one component acrylic water based exterior paint that repels heat energy, keeping buildings/structures cooler in summer & warmer in winter. Its unique formula results in lower energy cost & a higher level of comfort. Its elastic film acts as waterproofing barrier as this film is impermeable to water.
Sun-Sheetal is applied like a normal paint on to masonry surfaces, or properly prepared metal or plywood decks. Its coating slows down heat gains in the summer and slows down the heat losses of a building in winter. In the summer, it keeps away more than 50% infrared energy of sun which is emitting into the building, keeping the building & its occupants cooler & more comfortable. In the winter more than 50% of the radiant heat, which would normally escape, is reflected back slowing the loss of heat from the building.

Direction for use

• Application areas  to be washed with a hard brush & ensure that all unwanted dust weak paint/fungus etc. are removed. Cleaned area has to be washed with water. See that the surface is moist before application.

• Stir the paint thoroughly before each use.

• Apply first coat with brush on the cleaned & washed surface.

• Apply second coat after a gap of minimum  one hour.

• Ensure that the coated area does not come in contact with water for a minimum period of four hours.   

• After completion of full coating, 48 hours is the (self) curing period for this paint.
  

Coverage: One kg. Sun-Sheetal covers 50-60 sq.ft. area in single coat for smooth surface.

Colour : Off-white base. Tintable to any shade, using appropriate  stainer.
 
For Best Performance

• Apply even coats.

• Maximum results are achieved when all walls and roofs from outside are coated with Sun-Sheetal.

• Allow to dry for minimum of two ours before recoating.
  

Evaluation of Sun-Sheetal for its Cooling Effect:
This product has been tested for its efficiency as a heat repellent/insulation paint by BTRA Test House, of Bombay Textiles Research Association, Mumbai as follows:

Test Method: In a rectangular M.S. oven, two identical M.S. boxes of approximately 200 cubic inch volume were fixed in close proximity and at an equal distance from the heater mounted at  bottom. Two coats of Sun-Sheetal paint was applied on one box, whereas, the other was uncoated.
The oven, the uncoated & coated boxes were fitted with electronic sensor to monitor the inside temperatures which were displaced on a Digital Temperature Control Meter.

Special Features

• Sun-Sheetal on application to external surface of any heat receiving object repels the heat thereby controlling the heat transfer.

• Experiments show that if the roofs & walls of the building are coated with Sun-Sheetal, then the interior of that building will be 10-11 Deg.C cooler than that of a similar building during the warmest part of the day.

• Throughout the day the heat from sun is carried in the atmosphere by radiation, transfer through the roof by conduction to the internal air space and the infrastructure below. Once the heat is in, it is trapped. So even the ambient temperature is dropped, the interior retains the heat. Since Sun-Sheetal control the heat transfer in the first place, it greatly reduces the air conditioning running cost.

• Sun-Sheetal controls the heating of concrete roofs & wall and therefore, saves the structure from heat stress problem resulting in increased life of building.

• Sun-Sheetal  paint  has excellent resistance to abrasion, temperature, fire and seawater.

• Sun-Sheetal also eliminates harmful glare due to its mat finish & last much longer than regular exterior coatings when applied as per directions.

• Sun-Sheetal coating is like a protective barrier that shields home from external heat energy. As a result, your rooms are cooler & more comfortable.

• In winter, because of the coating of Sun-Sheetal ,the transfer of heat from the room to outside atmosphere is restricted. The result is a warmer and more comfortable room.
  

The oven temperature was gradually increased & the corresponding temperatures inside the Sun-Sheetal coated as well the uncoated boxes were recorded.

Observations: The recorded temperatures were plotted as shown in the graph & observed that the box coated with Sun-Sheetal remains cooler than the uncoated box. Further. As the oven temperature increases, the control of  heat transfer is higher. At an oven temperature of  97 Deg.C, the temperature reduction is observed to be as high as 16 -17 Deg.C as shown in the graph.

Conclusion: The Sun-Sheetal paint applied as a coating gives significant benefits in reduction of heat gain & find applications for cooling/insulation purposes.
